What Makes "Sex and the City" so Bingeable?

What’s your favorite show that you’ve picked up during quarantine? I’ll go first! Sex and the City. I honestly never saw myself being a girl that watched Sex and the City, deciding whether I’m a Miranda or a Samantha. But here I am (a Buzzfeed quiz told me I’m a Charlotte, but I don’t believe it).

Sure, this show can be super outdated. It was the 90s - early 2000s, a lot has changed; we use more politically correct terminology and there actually are people of color who live in New York City. But, there is something big that continually draws me back to this show. The friendship.

Being isolated from some of my favorite people during quarantine, this show makes me long for the days my best friends and I would sit around a living room, eating sushi, drinking wine, and talking about our latest crushes and boy drama. While my friends don’t exactly resemble each of the women, we had just as many laughs and R-rated discussions.

Everyone misses normalcy and we have all realized there’s so much to be grateful for. And I’d never thought that I’d say that Sex and the City contributed to making me feel grateful for my best friends. I can’t wait to sit in a room with my Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha (you see how I’m making myself the Carrie? Take that Buzzfeed!) and discuss every single aspect of our lives. But, until then my HBO Max subscription will be put to good use while I make my way through the seasons.

I highly recommend picking up Sex and the City if you’re in the mood for a laugh and some good gossip. Once again, I say take the antiquated notions with a grain of salt. But, this show has everything you need as you’re missing your crew.
