Have you ever thought about where we go after we die? Amazon Prime’s new show, Upload, gives you a glimpse into the future. A future where you’ll have the ability to “upload” yourself into a heaven simulation, so your mind can live on in the after-life. You can visit family members, eat everything you want, and even have sex with your partner that is still alive (due to some interesting wetsuit technology and Virtual Reality goggles).
After a fatal self-driving car accident, Nathan Brown is uploaded to "Lakeview", an after-life facility, through his girlfriend’s family plan. Nathan’s adjustment is pretty hard (understandably so) but luckily for the departed they have an “Angel,” a living person that is basically the equivalent of customer service but for the dead. Nathan’s Angel is named Nora, she works for "Horizon," the company that oversees the Lakeview facility. She is trying to get her dad to sign up for the plan because he’s sick with “Vape Lung,” but he still believes in traditional heaven and would prefer to be there where Nora's mother is. Nora and Nathan start to develop an interesting relationship throughout the episodes while a mystery surrounds whether Nathan’s death was an accident or a set-up.
If you’re looking for a 30 minute show to make you laugh and has a plot that will keep you coming back...Upload is the show for you. The premise is incredibly interesting and fun to follow. Robbie Amell’s Nathan, is charmingly, funny as he fumbles his way through the after-life. And Andy Allo’s Nora is a relatable delight. They’re relationship gives you the feels and makes you laugh. And the ensemble cast are great additions to the story, each character feels necessary and brings a lot of humor to the show.
This show is nothing like you’ve seen before and I guarantee you’ll be laughing and chasing the mystery just as much as me! You can stream Upload on Amazon Prime now.
