Wow, what an end to 5 very interesting love stories. The couples from Netflix's newest hit reality show have made it to their wedding day in the final episode of the Love is Blind. Let me give you a quick reminder; the show follows couples that met in "The Pods" where they make a connection and fall in love without seeing each other. Once they get engaged they go on a romantic trip to mexico, move in together, meet each other's families, and then....GET MARRIED. Now let's talk about these couples and their happy (and not-so-happy) endings!
Giannina & Damian:
A tumultuous couple who's lows were as low as their highest highs. They didn't have a very steady relationship once they left Mexico but they had hope to work things through. They never got to meet Damian's parents, which I think put a strain on their relationship. The couple even had a couple big fights through the season, one of which Giannina told Damian that she was impressed with the sex (way to cut him deep!). But, found their way to the alter. Giannina said "I do" to marrying Damian and as soon as he started choking up, I knew he would say no. Damian said "I don't" to marrying Giannina because he felt they had only had a couple days without fighting and she didn't seem ultimately ready to make the commitment. Honestly, I don't think either of them were ready to make the commitment.
Giannina ran out of the wedding and down the block (slipping on a hill, that was hard to watch) and her mom finally caught up with her, saying that Giannina should've said no to him. To be quite honest, I don't condone violence, but I was ready to see Giannina's mom slap Damian across the face. Rumor has it, Damian and Giannina are back together, hopefully they'll have less drama in their relationship this time.
Amber & Barnett:
This couple reminds me of the frat boy marrying the girl he met at a frat party. Amber had Barnett at the top of her list from day one, while Barnett juggled three women, including one of the women getting married! But, more on that later. Meeting her family went well, while his was a little rocky. But, they stuck together, laughing the whole time. Even though, I don't think Barnett was laughing too much when Amber revealed she had about $20,000 worth of debt from dropping out of college. On their wedding day, Barnett said he had cold feet and when Amber tried to call him he didn't answer. That's a red flag. But, he made it to the alter. Amber and Barnett both ended up saying "I do." I genuinely think that Amber's mom would've killed Barnett (who's name is Matt apparently) if he had said no. They're both wild and honestly I think they could potentially last, and it looks like they've stayed married since the show ended!
Kelly & Kenny:
They were the easy-going, always getting along couple through the whole season. Never had any fights or any drama and their family meeting could not have gone better! They never had sex through the whole experience, which is fine! But the reasoning didn't make a lot of sense. Kelly basically said that she didn't want the sex to be bad and she never really had an orgasm so she wanted to wait. Later on we find out that Kelly isn't physically attracted to Kenny, because she is more attracted to brunettes. Her make up artist even asked if she would've approached Kenny if they had met in real life. Her answer was no, red flag. So the wedding day comes and everyone looks beautiful. And Kelly says "I don't." She said she had to follow her heart and she should know what she wants by now but I guess Kenny wasn't it.
Kenny being the sweetheart he is, stood at the alter watching Kelly walk away with her sister. And he turned to the crowd and thanked everyone for coming and said he loved everybody. Kelly's mom then turned to Kelly's bridesmaids and said "God, I love this guy." This was the only break up that I actually felt sad about. They both were really sweet but clearly not meant for each other. But, I'm very sure a lot of women are going to be sliding into Kenny's DMs right about now.
Jessica & Mark:
Where do we even start with this couple? Jessica and Mark had an instant connection in "The Pods" and then Jessica met Barnett. Barnett swept her off her feet and blah blah blah. Barnett one night told Jessica that if there was no one else and it was the real world, he would propose to her right now. So, Jessica ran to Mark's Pod and broke up with him. Mark was devastated. When Jessica talked to Barnett again after to see where his head was and if he still felt the same way; long story short...he didn't. Guess where Jessica went after that.....BACK TO MARK.
The conversation consisted of her saying "babe".....a lot. And Mark took her back and proposed. After being in Mexico, she was still thinking about Barnett and even approached him a couple times when she was drunk to see how he felt. She was met with Barnett gushing about how amazing Amber was and how she exceeded his expectations. She then returned with talking about how amazing Mark is. Girl...we know you were hoping Barnett would run away with you. But alas, she stuck with Mark talking about how their 10 year age gap would give them challenges in life. Mark being 24 didn't see any sort of challenges, even their friends and his family were supportive of it. Jessica was the only one feeling uncomfortable with it. And it was a lot of her argument against him the whole season. Eventually, Jessica got to a point of claiming Mark was amazing, "her person", everything she had been asking for. And she walked down the aisle, kissed him and said "I love you." Mark said "I do" and Jessica said "I don't." Strange that she would come down the aisle so ready to express her love and then break his heart. It'll be interesting to hear Jessica defend herself and her actions (and feeding wine to her dog) on the reunion special. Because, I don't think her audience is too keen on her behavior.
Lauren & Cameron:
So, if you watched the season, I think you know where this is going. But, I will take you on the journey! Lauren and Cameron were the first couple to get engaged in The Pod. Every conversation and their reactions when seeing each other for the first time was precious and super genuine. Their only potential complication was that they are an interracial couple and Cameron is the first White guy that Lauren has ever dated. They had a pretty smooth ride through the season despite an awkward and stern conversation with Lauren's dad. Once the wedding came and the two of them walked down the aisle, both said, "I do." And now they are running through the press circuit and looking super in love doing it.
Reunion Special:
Something to point out is that this season was filmed in 2018 so a lot has happened in between these love stories playing out on Netflix and now. So it's been a year and a half; Barnett and Amber, Cameron & Lauren are still together. We will see where the other couples will find themselves after they all watch the show back and see how everything unfolded. Netflix is releasing the reunion special today! So make sure you watch; I know I will!
