Love, Guaranteed didn't Guarantee Love

Match.com and EHarmony have been rolled into one online dating site called “Love, Guaranteed.” Netflix’s new rom-com of the same name, stars Rachael Leigh Cook as civil litigator, Susan. And Damon Wayans JR. as Nick, a “Love, Guaranteed” user who is filing a lawsuit against the company for not delivering the guarantee of love after going out on 1000 dates. But, as Susan and Nick work more on the case, their relationship starts to grow.

Love, Guaranteed is exactly what you would expect: cheesy, cute, with a hint of Hallmark. I thought it was a fun twist to a cheesy rom-com with the focus being on a dating app. It’s more relevant than ever with everyone swiping, and the way they talk about ghosters, people that don’t look like their pictures, and crazy dates...all felt very relatable.

While the film felt fun and light, the chemistry between Cook and Wayans wasn’t entirely there. Their relationship felt more like a friendship, and I wasn’t entirely convinced there was love between them. While I love both actors separately, together I just wasn’t buying it.

This movie is a quick watch and a palette cleanser. When you’re feeling down or have been watching a lot of serious content, this movie is perfect to clear your mind and keep going. You can catch Love, Guaranteed now on Netflix.
