Hulu released their newest Pete Davidson movie, Big Time Adolescence, a week early because most people are home. The movie follows the friendship of bright, 16-year-old Monroe (played by Tall Girl's Griffin Gluck) and dead-beat, 23-year-old Zeke (Pete Davidson). Zeke is the ex-boyfriend of Monroe's older sister Kate (Grown-ish's Emily Arlook), he doesn't have much going on in his life besides drinking alcohol and smoking pot. Against Monroe's parents wishes, Zeke is basically his role model and best friend. He doesn't really have high school friends until he starts selling the drugs Zeke gives him.
This movie was what people call a "slice of life," it was a good look into everyday life of a regular kid that becomes the person his friends have turned out to be. Griffin Gluck gave a great performance, you could see a good transition between the person he started as and who he was by the end of the movie. He had a couple famous names to stand up against and he did a great job. To see the innocence lost and the revelations he brought on himself throughout the movie were fun to watch.
Pete Davidson gave a good performance, as well. He definitely played the part of comedic relief for the movie. My worry for Pete Davidson is that he will continue to play the troupe of the "fuck-up" for the entirety of his acting career. I think he could potentially have a great acting career but it would be nice to see him stretch himself now that he is a household name.
While you're stuck in the house make sure you check out Big Time Adolescence. It's a quick watch that will give you a good laugh and will make you be nostalgic for your high school days.
