Monday night's Met Gala was full of camp! Which was the theme, so the bigger and the crazier the better. So....what was the excuse for the people coming in without camp? There were some people who really took it to the next level, Billy Porter, Lady Gaga, Michael Urie, Ezra Miller, Cardi B., Zendaya, and Lupita Nyong'o just to name a few.
But on the other hand, some people came wearing exactly what you'd wear on the red carpet of the Oscars or Golden Globes, something simple and not theatrical in the least bit. When you come to the Met Gala you are expected to dress in the theme and do it big!
There are so many ways to bring camp and theatrical flare to a look without stepping too far out of your comfort zone. Men could put on an exaggerated shoulder pad on a suit or long fringe hanging from the sleeves. Women could bring an sculptured silhouette, eccentric hair styles, or strong makeup.
You always hope that people attending the Met Gala are going to bring it, but that's not always the case. I can't wait to see what the theme for next year's Met Gala will be, and hopefully there's not a weak outfit in the bunch!
